THE RESORT AND MUNICIPALITY OF LES GETS WORKING TO PROTECT THE BLACK GROUSE

The ski resort and Les Gets village campaign together for the black grouse’s protection, an emblematic bird of the Alps. 

The black grouse’s wintery survival is based on energy saving, vital at this time of year. The black grouse is then particularly sensitive to disruption, because it can’t offset the expended energy: when it has to leave quickly its igloo as a off-piste skier or a snowshoes hiker passes. 

To protect this birds species, plenty of actions are set up of both Mont-Chéry and Ranfoilly areas: description of wintering areas and noticeboards, cutting back of mountain pastures, installation of avifauna beacons on some installations…
