From 17th December 2011 to 31st March 2012, discover the shuttle service for Les Gets and surroundings hamlets, every day from 6.30pm till 11pm.
Only one number : 0810 420 200 for a price of 2€/adult (under 12s free with an adult).
Tickets sold directly in the shuttle, or to the Les Gets shops or to your accommodation.
The Accommodation Environmental Charter "Escale Nature"
Originally introduced by Les Gets Reservation for their members, the Accommodation Providers’ charter has evolved and takes a significant step forward in 2012. The Tourist Office wishes all accommodation providers to become involved in this initiative (furnished accommodation, estate agents and hotels).
Following a questionnaire carried out last winter asking clients about their attitudes and expectations of Eco-friendly tourisim initiatives, we have been able to analyse and improve the charter to make it as relevant as possible.
The most important areas that acommodation providers should consider are: energy economy,waste management,reduction in noise pollution,a natural environment.
The improvements of the Accommodation Providers’ Environmental charter are :
• Relevant and pertinent requirements which will allow clients to easily compare different accommodation offers.
• Class the crieria by category: waste disposal, energy, water....
• Create different levels of classification for the owners adhering to the existing charter (a classification by stars called "Edelweiss : 1,2 or 3 Edelweiss) to make comparison simpler.
• Give information leaflets for distribution to visitors about Ernergy, waste disposal...
To increase our clients’ awareness concerning our mountain environment, many different things have been put in place over the past few years.
Here are a few examples :
- A big wood fueled heater was built in 2000. It heats 12 different buildings in Les Gets and allows us to use wood from our local forests which cover 2/3 of Les Gets’ territory.
- Pocket ashtrays : Ask for your free ashtray at the lift ticket offices!
This initiative has been taken to encourage skiers not to throw their cigarettes on the ground. Skiers will also have their attention drawn to this by messages on the ski lifts.
- Businesses and shop keepers are involved too. (Geothermal energy, organic wines, local products…)
- Car sharing : « 3+1=3 »
This special offer has been launched to encourage car-sharing.
The idea? A minimum of 4 people per car when arriving in Les Gets = 25% reduction on a day ski-pass (wednesdays and sundays during the season). For more information : 04 50 75 80 99. Share a car when coming to Les Gets and help protect the environment.
- Saving water. (Water storage used specifically for drinking water, new snow cannons that use less energy, artificial snow without artificial additives…)
- Increasing awareness through various events in Les Gets.
- Using biodegradeble oil for the snow grooming vehicles.
- One day a year organized to collect the trash left on the slopes after the winter season.
- Participating in European programs and environmental initiatives with partners such as Ademe, Priorieterre, Mountain Riders, Alpine Pearls…
- The lift operating company and the Tourist Office use environmental safe products.
- In summer, a garden takes over where the ice-skating rink is in winter (in front of the town hall).
- Putting in place an environmental pledge for the accomodation providers.
- All businesses and shops in Les Gets are involved in eco-tourism : using geothermal energy or heat pumps to heat, serving either organic or local products, raising Salers cows… places such as Labrador, Crychar, Stella, Alpen Sports, Saint Laurent, Case K2 participate…
